Social media initiatives are now de rigueur in almost every firm. Social media has a low entry cost and there is often a 'Keeping up with the Joneses' justification for implementation. Firms that continue technology or functional area specific pilot projects can still face significant risks and may end up missing out on cross functional opportunities such as enterprise wide brand management, leveraging customer choice and preference data, applying knowledge management, and realizing product innovation. This session will focus on a strategic framework for planning and identifying the enterprise wide social media portfolio. The framework consists of four elements: Listen and brand, mine and decide, converse and share, and co-createe and innovate. Each element is further detailed as a set of key concepts, risks, strategies, and best practices mapped to relevant tools.
